The Life of Christ Altarpiece consists of a central triptych of three works: Baptism, Descent From the Cross, and Resurrection of Christ with two side panels: Madonna and Child and Descent into Hell.
Frederick J. Brown dedicated the altarpiece to the artist Max Beckmann.
The Museum of Contemporary Religious art acquisition was made possible in the 1990a by UMB Banks and the Crosby Kemper Foundations.

Prints and posters by Frederick J. Brown are still available for sale, with a portion of proceeds contributed to Fordham’s Bronx African-American History Project.

The Frederick J. Brown Trust is saddened to learn of the passing of two dear friends, Kendall Chen and James Jordan.
